South and West Part 2

On our way back from Death Valley we stopped at Valley of Fire State Park.  This beautiful but popular area is near Las Vegas.  We hiked, looked at rock art and camped at the campground which had wonderful showers!

We were planning to stop at some of the national parks on the way home but we didn't realize that President's day was a free week end.  Zion was crazy, way too many people.  Bryce, much higher in elevation was pretty cold this early in the season and not too much was open in the nearby towns.  Escalante Grand Staircase Visitor Center was closed for the holiday and we didn't have any maps or information so we camped at Calf Creek, an area that we have visited before.
Calf Creek is a beautiful hike to a desert waterfall with rock art along the way to watch for.

After a very cold night we realized that it wasn't camping weather yet in southern Utah so we continued on north to Green River. After a night there and great burgers at Ray's we stopped to see some of the rock art and the ghost town in Sego Canyon.
