This month we spent a few days in Durango visiting friends and listening to mostly local musicians at the Durango Celtic Festival. We heard some great music. Two of my favorites were Giants Dance and Colcannon.

The weather has been drier in the southern part of the state this year and it feels more like spring in Durango than it does in Evergreen. Our drive to Moab was beautiful. Early March is a great time to be in Moab, a little ahead of most of the tourists, still quiet. Warm afternoons, chilly mornings and no crowds. We saw a few bikes on our rides in the Klondike Bluffs and KlonZo areas but in 3 days of hiking we only saw about 3 people on the trails. There were few trails in Moab that I was comfortable riding, but many new trails have been added to the classics and there are now lots of opportunities for the casual rider. This trip we drove north of town to the far end of Klondike trails. This is a nice mix of trails, mostly easy to intermediate. We rode Agate East and West, Jasper East and West, Dino-Flow and Jurassic, all fun and not threatening.
