We also visited the art museum and were introduced to the art of Maud Lewis. She was untrained and mostly uneducated and suffered from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. In spite of all that she painted much of her adult life and her art sold quite well. All of her art shows such joy. If you have the time to watch this youtube video about her life you will see her small house which she and her husband lived in and she painted inside and out. The house is now installed in the museum.

We left Halifax on a Sat morning after a stop at their wonderful farmer's market. Such a change from Newfoundland. There was lots of salad greens, tomatoes, squash and the first apples of the season. I am still craving salad after almost a month of nothing more than occasional iceberg lettuce.
I am still amazed by Newfoundland. It was one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been. Also the most remote. The people are survivors and proud of it. This is a province that has suffered the
loss of their livelihood with the fishing moratorium and for some the loss of their homes with the resettlement of the 1960's. In spite of that they are warm generous and have a strong sense of community.

No, I did not try them. Who knew Cod had tongues!
Beautiful late day colors.
We haven't taken too many photos in Nova Scotia yet. My battery went dead in Halifax and needed charging. The last two days have been pretty foggy. Maybe better weather tomorrow.
Fog near a beach in Nova Scotia.
If it were sunny there would be seals on the rocks, but only fog today.
Foggy day.
