Here in Ohio the weather is grey and damp. Living in the west so long I forgot about days like this but at least it is cooler, only about 70 this morning.
We are still having refrigerator problems. We know that it works because it can get as cold as 25 in the evening when we stop but when we drive the temp rises. Sitting still the temp goes up but not too much. So far we have been lucky enough to but small quantities of food to consume quickly but I would like to be able to depend on the refrigerator more. Oh well, we just have to keep trying.
Speaking of food yesterday we stopped in Cleveland to visit the West Side Market. There has been a market at this site since 1840 but in 1912 this building was dedicated and now recently remodeled. Over 100 vendors sell all kinds of produce and food.
We shopped for lunch, sampled cheese and stared at the pastry cases. We finally purchased pirogi for dinner as well as bread, cheese and fresh spinach. I could shop like this everyday!
To help work off some of that stop we visited Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This park is an area that includes many historic buildings and the Ohio and Erie Towpath. In 1825 when Ohio was a wilderness the canal was started. This opened up Ohio to the east. Today, it is a beautiful path for hiking and biking.
Looking into one of the many old locks.
Wetlands along the tow path.
