The last few month included short trips to NM, AZ and UT without the camper which spent the winter in the backyard. Bruce put it back on the truck this week, getting ready for some longer trips and just before more snow.In January we visited Santa Fe with Bruce's brother Stan and his wife Judy. We stayed in a cute condo close to the plaza that Judy found. The weather was cold but sunny and beautiful. It was a great visit and a chance to show them around Santa Fe. We sampled green chile and sopapillas and took in as much art as we could.
We wanted to get in some hiking inbetween the eating so we drove out to Tent Rocks now known as Kasha-Katuwe. They have done a lot of work there with a better parking lot, entrance station and nice rest rooms. As we begin our hike we spoke to one of the rangers who mentioned that there was a lot of snow back there. Not at first, as we found out but the slot section had deep snow that made for some challenging hiking. Some of the trail had not been tracked but Bruce scouted out ahead and broke trail for us.
The sun was warm and the views were beautiful so all worth it.
We continued on further south for a visit to Tucson to see Rebecca Bruce's sister and her family and his Dad.
Tucson wasn't green yet but it was warmer and drier. We did get in a few rides. Fun but unnerving. One slip to the side and you could land in a cactus. One rider mentioned that he always rode with pliers to pull out spines. Ouch!
Our route home took us back through Santa Fe since the weather everywhere else turned stormy. The ruins at Pecos were beautiful agains the sky.
About a month later we met Rebecca and her Daughter in Moab. Here they are under Delicate Arch.
Hiking near Corona Arch in Moab.
Moab has some nice new bike rides that are not killer. We posed here on the trails in Deadhorse State Park.
Meanwhile back in Colorado it is still snowing! We are getting packed for a two week trip to Utah so I am glad that the snow is falling for days before we leave. Hopefully that will mean good weather next week and lots of water in the canyon where we will be hiking.
