It was a rainy day yesterday in Nova Scotia and we decided to move a little closer to the ferry end of the province. We made a supply stop in Moncton, finally a really good grocery store! Off in the rain to Memrancook and the Monument Lefebvre. It is a museum that traces the history of the Acadian people. Originally French they settled in Nova Scotia. This was followed by lots of problems with the British who eventually deported or imprisoned them. Today though they are scattered there are about 3 million descendants.

Yesterday afternoon we found ourselves near one of the Harvest Host stays in Nova Scotia. Harvest Hosts is a group we joined that puts members in touch with farms, wineries and orchards who will allow you to stay on their property for one night free of charge. The idea is that you will then do the wine tasting or check out what they grow. We pulled into Sugar Moon Farm just before they closed and they allowed us to stay in the parking lot overnight. The farm is a rustic but charming pancake house and maple sugar farm. We were alone in the clearing that houses the restaurant and farm buildings except for a mama deer and two fawns who moved through the meadow. It was a quiet and peaceful night.
The next morning we woke at 6AM. The pancake house did not open till 9AM. :( We decided not to wait there for hours for breakfast and so left. Sorry not to stay and check out the pancakes!
From there we drove along the coast and decided to visit Mabou a place we had loved the last time we were here.

Bike ride along the Judique Flyer Rail Trail

After a ride along an old rail line we found a place to camp and will go into Mabou tonight to the Red Shoe Pub to hear some music. If we can stay awake long enough!
Update on the refrigerator.
Bruce and his brothers took the unit out and put in insulation around the top and two sides. We haven't had any days as hot or have driven as long but, the unit now maintains a better, more stable temperature! YES!
We love these campgrounds with wifi and the local libraries who also have wifi. So we have been connected more here in Nova Scotia. We will be off to Newfoundland soon and not sure how connected we will be then.
