We are sitting in a lovely coffee shop in Paradise (really) NL on a rainy, foggy day. We have had mostly good weather and every one tells us it is so much nicer than last year when they had 28 days without sun! Those of us from Colorado would be very unhappy, we do like our sunny days.
One of the sunny days we made a trip to Trinity, a beautiful town on the Bonavista Peninsula. It was settled in 1720 and was a shipbuilding town and the wealth of the merchants is reflected in the large homes.

The one really touristy thing that I wanted to do here was to visit the site where they filmed Random Passage mini series. This series taken from the Bernice Morgan book was filmed about 2000 and after the filming was over the community saw an tourism opportunity. The book is a wonderful story of some of the first Irish immigrants to Newfoundland. They had little idea of what life would be like and it was brutal. They survived and their descendants still live here today.

If you have a chance it is a good read or the mini series was really good too. You can get the series through Prospector/JCPL.
Later we hiked the Sherwink Trail, a beautiful coastal trail. The battery on my camera went dead so Till I get some of Bruce's photos this is the only one I have.
